At the invitation of China Solid State Lighting Alliance, for the purpose of integrating with LED worldwide, improving and exchanging LED industry experience, President and General Manager Mr. Martin Lee and Vice President Mr. Wang Shaofang from Ledman Optoelectronic Co., Ltd. visited several famous LED encapsulation companies located in Penang and another two cities in Malaysia. Related leaders, experts and administrative staff of member companies of China Solid State Lighting Alliance also visited Malaysia. Philips Lumileds, Avago, Nichia and Dominant Semiconductors are the companies that the delegation mainly visited.
The semiconductor encapsulation industry has a longer history in Malaysia than it has in other Southeast Asian countries. Many famous international LED companies have their branches or factories in Malaysia for the advantage of human resources and costs.
President and General Manager Mr. Martin Lee said that mainland China LED companies have the world-class hardware facilities, but we have to improve our software capabilities, and the ability to control detailed technical skills. We knew better what we are good at and weak at from this investigation and got more confidence about ourselves, which indeed will be very meaningful in our process of catching up with and finally surpassing our international competitors.
